Film Series - Spielberg in the 21st Century
In part two of our series, we examine how the world’s most famous director responds to the changing social, political, and technological realities of the 21st century. We will look at six of Spielberg’s films, from sci-fi blockbusters to historical dramas. What themes - new or old - emerge? How does Spielberg confront his legacy, mortality, and Jewish identity onscreen? Does the director continue to innovate and astound 50 years into his career, or is his best work behind him?
No previous enrollment necessary.
Particiants will watch the films on their own time (links to the movies will be provided). Where possible, we will arrange for in-person viewing of the films. We will gather on Zoom every second Wednesday for lively discussion.
Offered on Zoom direct from New York City by Jordan Osterer who has an MA in Film from Columbia University, and a BA with a minor in Jewish Canadian Studies from the University of Ottawa.
Every second Wednesdays at 3:00 pm,
April 15 to June 24, 2026
cost: $60.00 for all 6 sessions
Enrollment is limited to 18.
