C115 Tour of the Chaudiere Falls With Maria

Every year, during Open Doors, Portage Power does a tour of the Chaudiere Falls which is almost impossible to attend because the number of people allowed is so low. So, we are doing a tour of our own led by Maria Somjen. The Falls were a sacred Indigenous meeting place, the heart of Bytown’s lumber boom and has hydro generators powering homes with clean energy. It was closed to the public for over a century, but now it’s time to explore the beauty of the Falls and the surrounding park with stunning views of the Ottawa River and the Falls. Parking is available at the War Museum (also on surrounding streets). We will meet in the lobby of the War Museum and from there it is a short walk to the Falls.
