AJA 50+ (Active Jewish Adults) is an independent, non-profit volunteer-driven organization for the 50+ population.
We have about 400 members with a range of ages from 50 to 99. Our membership includes people from all walks of life. Membership is open to anyone aged 50 and older. You do not need to be Jewish to become a member and participate in our wide variety of programs.
Our purpose is to provide a range of cultural, recreational, social, and educational programs designed to meet the needs of the 50+ population in the Ottawa Jewish Community. Programs are held during daytime hours, Monday through Friday.
A program guide, designed and produced by our members, comes out 3 times a year with a wide variety of programs intended to offer something for everyone. Our three yearly program sessions, which offer continuous and new seasonal programs, are January-April, May-August and September-December. Programming runs 52 weeks a year.
We are governed by a Board of Directors elected from our membership.

The working committees include Program, Finance, Volunteers, Membership and Publicity.
All members are invited to participate on committees in areas of their interest.
We aim to be a voice for the 50+ Jewish population in the areas of seniors’ housing, transportation, health and wellness, and to collaborate with other organizations in the areas of common interest to the 50+ population in Ottawa. We do extensive programming ourselves but also inform members about programs of interest to the 50+ population sponsored by community agencies and other organizations. We are a member of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa.
